Prepare to be transfixed! Emmy-successful naturalist Sir David Attenborough follows up his cinematic journeys Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II with the equally charming 5-section Dynasties.
This world-circling glimpse at family members everyday living in the animal kingdom properties in on 5 highly endangered species: lions (Kenya), emperor penguins (Antarctica), painted wolves (Zimbabwe), tigers (India) and chimps (Senegal). “We sign up for every relatives at a very important minute,” Attenborough claims in his narration, “when the potential of their dynasty hangs in the harmony.”
For the chimp episode, noted primate filmmaker Rosie Thomas and her camera team spent two years at the edge of the Sahara monitoring — generally on foot, through stifling heat and dangerous downpours — a western chimp recognized as David. “When you meet him, he is so charismatic and enjoyable to view,” she states.
He is also the alpha, which involves “the excellent harmony of toughness, willpower and muscle mass.” Violent assaults from other grownup males furthermore David’s outstanding power moves propel an emotional, riveting tale that has him fighting not only to keep on being major ape, but also to hang on to his life.
